* * * *
He locked the shop, more excited than he’d been in years. Outside, Colin was waiting for him.
“I didn’t want to waste a moment. I want to be with you,” he said.
Adriano felt a thousand years younger. “Me, too.”
“You drive.” Colin grinned at him. They got inside the Camaro and as they drove away he casually announced, “We’re in room ten.”
“Our old room?”
“You remembered.” Colin launched himself at Adriano, kissing him wildly, his lips landing all over Adriano’s face. He had to pull over so they could slake their thirst for one another.
“I’m so sorry for what they did to you,” Adriano said. “I didn’t know until yesterday.”
Colin’s face twisted in grief. “I know.”
“You know?”
Colin turned his face away. “It wasn’t your fault. I came back for you.”
“I never knew.”
Colin nodded.
“Is it too late for us?”
Colin gave him a brilliant smile. “Shut up and drive.”
Adriano laughed. They kept laughing all the way to the motel.
“Where are your parents?” Adriano asked.
“Jacksonville.”
“And you’re here alone?” Adriano couldn’t believe he’d asked that question, blurted it like that.
“Oh, yes. Like I said, I came here for you.”
Adriano wanted to howl at the moon and dance an Irish jig. Yet he didn’t know how to do either.
“How did you know I was coming back?”
“Shut up and park.”
Adriano felt terrible now. His mother must have told him, and here he’d been screaming at her…and yet, last night she’d told him the man he loved was dead.
What the hell was wrong with her?
As they walked into their room, he lost all train of thought on anything except Colin.
“It hasn’t changed much but hopefully the sheets are clean,” Colin joked.
Adriano loved the way his lover took him into his arms and kissed him. His eyes remained open.
“I need to look at you,” Colin said. “I need to believe this isn’t a dream.
It was no dream. Colin was real. His tears fell onto Adriano’s face…or was it the other way around? They kept kissing, tossing back and forth, taking turns topping one another. Colin kissed him the way he always had in the past.
“You’re not with anyone else?” Adriano asked.
“Of course not.” Colin looked indignant. From somewhere, Adriano could hear music. He tried to figure out where but Colin was undressing him now and nothing else was important.
His lover still had an amazing body.
“You still play tennis?” he asked him, marvelling at Colin’s strong arms and legs. They’d played all the time in school. Colin had been the state amateur champion.
“All the time.”
“Good, because I brought my racket.”
He loved the soft, sweet kiss Colin put at the hollow of his throat, as if he owned all of his breaths. He was aware of his heartbeat and how it quickened as Colin finally got them both naked, then began feasting on Adriano’s cock. He lay back for a moment, watching the way Colin focused on the head, sucking on the crown, releasing him then using his tongue in upward strokes, urging the blood to the head.
Adriano tried to hold it, but couldn’t.
